What Causes Lack Of Baby Movements During Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Apr 2014
Question: Hi, going into my 6'th month of pregnancy, but I'm not feeling much movement. Checkup last week had heart rate of 140 bpm. Original scan early in pregnancy showed placenta in the front. My midwife stated that is likely reason why I'm not feeling movement the way I did with my first child. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer: no need for concern. do a ultrasound scan. Detailed Answer: Dear member, Thanks for writing to healthcare magic. The baby movements felt may vary on fetal position and fetal sleep cycle. The baby might have moved a lot when you were asleep and you wouldn't have realised it. Besides fetal movement counts are recommended only after 34 weeks. Try lying down on left side as you may feel movements better. As long as you are feeling some movements there is no need for concern. Sometimes the fluid in uterus or amniotic fluid is more so you may not feel it. You mentioned scan in early pregnancy.as you are in 6th month now you discuss with you doctor regarding a trimester scan. Normal scan now will be reassuring. Please write back if you have any query. Thanks Dr Bhagyashree
