Question: I am 66 years old, female. I was diagnosed with Diabetes within the last 8 months. My doctor is a family doctor. I do not notice any specialization at all in him of Diabetes. I am overweight, need hip joint and possibly knee replacement surgery. He has not mentioned to me the reading of my Sugars and their high numbers. Right now I am 322 sugar reading. Last night, my reading was 288. I have feet that are hurting when I walk. I have a wide band of dark beet color wrapped around my right leg. It is sore, and I am concerned. Brief Answer:
Blood sugar should be normalised:

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
The values of blood sugar you reported are high, but HbA1c is a better indicator of the mean glucose levels of the last 3 months.
You didn't mention any treatment for Diabetes but you should try to loose weight and use Diabetes medications that help to loose weight, the dose and the number of medications you need depends on HbA1c level and the renal and liver function.
Regarding to the leg problem you are facing, i would suggest not to weight but see a physician as soon as possible (probably go to ER).
It may be a venous thrombosis (from your description), 8 months with high blood sugar is a short period to cause chronic diabetes complications.
Anyway, glucose levels should be maintained within the normal ranges and a prompt evaluation of the lesions you described is necessary.
Please let me know if i can help you further.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
