What Causes Itchy Eyes, Dizziness, Tiredness And Itching Throughout Body?

Posted on Fri, 10 Apr 2015
Question: I am a 44 year old male. I am 6'2" and weigh 235 lbs. For the past year and a half I have had spells that would occur about every 2-3 months, sometimes sooner but last 2-3 days. Always the same way. Wake up with very itchy eyes, feel like they are in sand, but from looking at them in the mirror, no redness or swelling. Then I would get dizzy and extremely tired to the point of fallen a sleep in the middle of a conversation. As the day goes on, i would feel itchy all over my body, but again, no redness. When this does occur I can sleep 24-36 hours strait and nothing I take seems to help except sleep and it eventually goes away on it own after the 3rd day.

Brief Answer:
sleep apnea

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

What you describe sounds like you have sleep apnea. The dry itching eyes are a result of not getting deep enough sleep and your eye lids then not staying completely closed during the night. Since you are waking frequently at night and not aware of it your sleep pattern is getting destroyed. When you get this severe sleepiness and sleep for 24 hours indicates that you are not sleeping well the other days.

I would recommend that you seek a medical provider and have a complete sleep study done. You may not be overweight but even normal weight individuals have sleep apnea.

Brief Answer:
Dizziness also related to sleep apnea

Detailed Answer:
Yes the dizziness may also be related to the sleep apnea. Wither from too low of blood pressure or too high.
