Brief Answer:
Unlikely thyroid related

Detailed Answer:
Good day
Noted your question and the medical history of allergic disorders as well as acid reflux gastric disease. The scratchy sensation in front of neck is unlikely due to any thyroid related illness. It's likely due to a disorder in throat and sounds like either part of allergy or reflux disease. Thyroid problems may occasionally present with pain, heaviness or dull/soreness in neck and jaw area.
It may be good to get your throat and neck area examined by your doctor particularly to look for redness inside your throat which may present with your symptoms.

I was wondering if neck area of discomfort could have come from ingesting a larger vitamin pill a couple of weeks ago that I choked on in swallowing . Could I have irritated my larynx?

Brief Answer:
Possible

Detailed Answer:
If the pill injured or irritated your throat area, it's quite possible. Many times patients get this symptoms if they try to swallow pills and particularly capsules without sufficient water.
