Brief Answer:
Mild form of "Seborrheic dermatitis"

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks for your swift follow up with pictures.

After analyzing the pictures with diligence I can make out the condition is mild form of "Seborrheic dermatitis" with sun aggravation on the same.

To tell you medically regarding "Seborrheic dermatitis"- it is mild inflammation of of the sebaceous glands (oil glands) to cause eruptions, mild to moderate scaling and flaking with redness and itching of variable degree. It basically involves the area around nose and nasolabial folds and surrounding skin on cheeks.

There are multiple factors causing the problem including dietary (nutritional or lack of proper nutrients), environmental including sun light as main aggravating factors with fungus and many more.

In my patients with your wife's kind of condition I prefer to use a mild steroid preparation such as desonide lotion for two times a day for 7 days. Once the redness an itching is reduced then I shift my patients on plane anti-fungal cream such as ketoconazole 2 % cream. Both these preparations should be applied in a very thin layer so that it should not be visible to the naked eye.

For itching I prefer to give a simple tablet of loratadine for one to two times a day after meals. It is very safe tablet and can also be given in pregnancy or feeding.

Proper scalp wash with anti-fungal shampoo help in reducing the propensity of recurrence.

A sun protection is must to take care of sun aggravation and redness.

I prefer to suggest a good diet to my patients with lots of fruits and green vegetables on daily basis. it helps in good regeneration power of skin and reduces the chances of nutritional factors as contributing cause.

I hope these information's will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.

"Wish you good health"
