What Causes Irregular Periods While On Deviry?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: Hi Doctor,
My cycle is irregular approx 35-40 days. My question is -
My last period was on 8th Nov, 2016. We had unprotected sex on 29th Nov, 2016. In December, I had no periods. To confirm this, I did first HCG beta blood test on 24th December, that was also negative(<1.20 miu). so I consulted with an obGyn on 25th January, who gave me deviry 10 mg for 5 days to start my period. Then just to reconfirm, I did another HCG beta blood test on 1st January 2017, my level is 0.20 miu, which was also negative. I started withdrawal bleeding on 5th January, and it continues bleeding till 9th January, 2017. i have attached HPT result images. Please check if you can see a faint line or not.
1. So Is there any chances of pregnancy in my case?
2. Can I trust this blood test or I tested too early (I have tested beta HCG after 31 days of unprotected sex)?
3. Does withdrawl bleed rules out pregnancy?

Hi,
Thank you mam for answering my query.
Actually i have consulted with a doctor yesterday. He told me like that withdrawal bleed caused by deviry does not rules out pregnancy always.
So my question is, is he correct or not?
I am in very much tension. Please help.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
1. If a woman is pregnant, withdrawal bleed with progesterone will be very less like a spotting or a mild bleeding only.
2. Withdrawal bleeding decreases the chances of pregnancy but a blood test is needed to completely rule out the pregnancy.
