What Causes Infrequent Light Green Thick Vaginal Discharge?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Jul 2015
Question: Hello,

My name is XXXXXXX and this is kinda embarrassing. Im a nineteen year old virgin, but am having infrequent light green chunky vaginal discharge. There is a light odor, and no soreness of the vagina. As I said, I am a virgin, so it can't be an STD, like my own research insists. Any help you can offer is appreciated. It doesn't come frequently, maybe once a month? But it has been once a month for a few months now.

Brief Answer:
Possibly a vaginal yeast infection, treatment and suggestions mentioned

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. From the given information, it does sound like you could have a vaginal yeast infection and this is not sexually transmitted. But if you do not mind I would like to request you to attach clear images of the affected region just for my examination with the mentioned discharge.

For now this is the required treatment:

+One tablet of fluconazole (e.g. diflucan) 150 mg : To be taken once

+Clotrimazole vaginal cream: Usually available with an apparatus to help apply the cream inside your delicate region. This will have to be applied twice a day for 7-10 days

+Change your inner wear twice daily

+Keep the region dry and clean as much as possible

+Do not indulge in any sexual activities including masturbation

I would also like to add that I may require a follow up picture from you on the 7th or 10th day of the treatment. Please let me know if you can get your hands on the above mentioned medications as you need them to go about your recovery.

Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help. And do not worry, our conversation is confidential and also you need not feel embarrassed about anything. I am a doctor and I have helped many patients with similar and more serious conditions as well. Yours is a simple one and it is easily treatable.

Best wishes.
