What Causes Inflammation In Throat While Taking Teva-Lansoprazole For Silent Reflux?
Question: Hello,
I was given Teva-Lansoprazole 15mg for silent reflux. Im not sure it is working too well, as I still have inflamation in my throat. I am also noticing some weakness in my arms? Is this a side-effect of this drug? It's not all the time, but it is noticeable. Thank you..

I read your query and understood your concerns.
1.You are reporting to have a silent reflux and throat infection, for which you are taking Amoxicillin and Teva-Lansoprazole. Can you specify for how long you are taking these treatments?
2.Please keep in mind that usually it needs at least two weeks of treatment with Teva-Lansoprazole to see any improvements. If you were my patient I would like to recommend:
- adding Ranitidine 300 mg at bed time
- adding antacids (Maalox) 1 tab half hour after the meals.
These will help relieve silent reflux
3.The weakness in your arms is more likely related to Lansoprazole side effects, however viral infection should be excluded first (usually the pain from viral infection last a couple of days without residual symptoms). If your symptoms persist more than a couple of days they are a side effect of lansoprazole. In that case you should stop taking Lansoprazole and should continue with the medication prescribed above.

I have had strep throat two times in a row, and the ENT noticed inflammation in my throat. Right now, I don't feel like I have a sore throat, but it feels tight and globus like. I am more worried about how long this has gone on (about 40 days). I also worry if I have an endoscopy will they give me sedation enough to forget it ..kind of like they did with my wisdom teeth?
