Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

I passed carefully through your recent medical history and would explain that too much alcohol especially when combined with other stimulants like caffeinated and energy drinks have a clear adverse effect on the heart.

The main effect is on cardiac rhythm, where several rhythm disorders have been noted like atrial fibrillation ("holiday heart syndrome"), and other forms of supra-ventricular arrhythmias as well as ventricular arrhythmias.

As your resting ECG and 24 hours heart rhythm monitoring have concluded normal, there is nothing to worry about.

Just to be sure of the absence of any structural cardiac abnormalities, a cardiac ultrasound (echo) is recommended.

Coming to this point, what is important to consider is showing a more careful approach in regard of alcohol and other energy drinks in the future.

Hope to have clarified your concerns and relieved your concern!

In case of any further uncertainties, feel free to ask me again.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
