Posted on Mon, 7 Jul 2014
Question: I am taking omnacortil 20 mg 1-----1-----0 and Azoran 50 mg 1---0-----0. for the last fortnight. I have been diagnosed with Chronic Immuno Demylineating Polyneuropathy. Since last 3 days I find increase in the number of times motion passes. No discomfort of any nature, except increase in frequency to 4 times a day. No discoloration or loose stools. Is this common

Is it also part of the effect of this combination of medicine that muscle weakness sets in particularly in the knee and thigh areas

Brief Answer:
Azoran could be the cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Azoran contains azathioprine which has very wide side effect profile. Both increased frequency of stools and muscle weakness could be a effect of azathioprine. These side effects do subside over time, may take 2 to 3 weeks for the same. if continue even after a month there rises a suspicion of colitis which is a rare long term side effect of azathioprine.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.

regards,
