Question: My wife has been dealing with a problem for years that we can not get a diagnosis for. Recently she found a website laying out all the symptoms for Pots. She said "that's me" when she was telling me about it. Today she was at work and progressively felt like she was getting hot. Sat down on the floor. Her heart was pounding. When helped up to take her home, she was cold. When she got home I took her bp, pulse and temp. 135/94 p69 and temp was 96.8 She is extremely fatigued and has been for the better part of this week. I appreciate your input. Thanks

Brief Answer:
This could very well be POTS disease. A specific rigorous exam is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. the symptoms you described a probably POTS disease. However her very specific evaluation is to be done in a doctor's office. The timing of the tachycardia/incerased heart rate and blood pressure is within a specific time frame. in the meantime she should increase her water intake to avoid the tachycardia that follows. Once confirmed there very many maneuvers that can be employed to prevent this from happening. These include nonpharmacologic maneuvers and pharmacologic maneuvers. I would revisit with your PCP and have himdo this specific evaluation. Good luck and I hope this helps you.

Is there a specific website or link that I could send to the doctor to review for this kind of exam. And would this be for a general car physician or specific skill area like neurology?
