Question: I have a hoarse voice and the feeling of a lump in my throat following an appendix burst and surgery to remove it. I also developed an abscess and am going to have drain put in. The surgery was 10 days ago and I am afraid that it is not normal to be so hoarse after this long

1. If you had the appendix surgery under general anaesthesia, this hoarseness is normally due to intubation.

2. It will settle down as you must already be on medication for the appendicitis and abscess.

3. A simple Videolaryngoscopy will settle the diagnosis.
