Intermittent Cough With Slimy Saliva Since Ischemic Colitis. Any Ideas ?

April 22 I was in serious condition (considered dying) due to blood clots that caused ishemic colitis. Upon arrival i was intubated and that lasted about 36-48 hours. Since then I have an intermittnent cough that produces just a slimey, treadlike saliva not yellow or green. I cough until I gag and then it stops for awhile. Often after coughing I feel a sort of burp in my throat when I bring it up it is a glob of very frothy bubbles of saliva. My heart function and lungs are good and clear..so not seen as causing the cough. Any Ideas?

Could have had some damage during intubation. Or there may be some kind of infection after the intubation. I would see a pulmonologist and see if they think you should have a bronchoscopy....this is where a camera is used to look into your airway etc.
