Hello,

I suppose "just above normal" means a value close to 7-8 mg/dL and you have no related medical history.
In cases like yours treatment for uric acid is indicated when:
- uric acid kidney stones are present
- skin lesions by the uric acid are present (the look like bumps that contain a chalk-like material)
- history of gout (usually presents with a swollen, very painful and red big toe with tense skin over it and fever).

If no such history is present and the uric acid is at the mildy elevated levels then no specific treatment is indicated.

Avoiding alcohol helps a lot. Loosing weight may also help, if you're overweight or obese.
There are more dietary interventions that can be considered but I don't usually advise my patients to adopt them unless their uric acid levels are sky high or they have any of the aforementioned indications.
