What Causes High Fever And Severe Leg Pain In A Child?
Question: We live in Delhi-NCR region which is high number of Chikungunia and Dengue. My 7 year old son had high fever for 3 days which is now settled. Dengue test came out be negative. Only problem now is sever pain in legs while walking. He is not able to walk. There is no pain when when he is lying down. Doctor says that the pain will go away in some days. How long will it take for him to recover?

There can be so many other viruses apart from dengue and chikungunya which may cause of fever.
In almost all the viral fever bodyache is a common complaint.
I wont get worried as the report for dengue(a more serious condition) is negative and fever is now improving.
In most of the cases pain improves within next 3-4 days once the fever starts subsiding.
Bed rest,plenty of fluids and analgesic helps in improvement of symptoms.
Watch closely for improvement in pain,reappearance of high grade fever,any rash or any development of weakness.
If you notice that pain persists for longer duration,development of any other abnormal symptoms or if there is progression in weakness,consult your pediatrician for evaluation.
