Brief Answer:
Your fasting sugars is high- increase medications

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.

Please let me know the content of Gem 2 tablet ? Is it Glimepiride 2 mg or a combination of Glimepiride 2 & Metformin 500mg? or you have mistyped it for Gemer 2?

In Diabetes, the target is fasting blood glucose less than 130 mg/dl and HbA1c less than 7%. Your values are slightly above target. Three options to control it

Option 1:
Improve lifestyle modifications- diet control and regular aerobic exercise.

Option 2:
Increase the dose of medications. You can increase either Metformin or glimiperide dose ( Gem 2 or Gluconorm) by 1 tablet. Zita 100 is maximum dose of medicine.

Option 3:
Add once daily basal insulin like Lantus. If you are comfortable with insulin injections, this is the ideal option to decrease your fasting blood glucose.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you.
