What Causes High Eosinophil Count And Low GFR?
Question: I have a high eosinophil count and it has gone from 12 to 13 in the past 2 years. My GFR is also low being 48. I have a history of cervical adenocarcinoma with radical hysterectomy in 2006.
Should I be concerned.......

Eosinophils are one of the type of white blood cells found in the body.
The white blood cells respond to inflammation and/or infection.
Eosinophils tend to respond to allergic reactions, asthma and in some parasite infections.
If a person has a history of sinuses, rhinitis or any allergies, the eosinophils would increase.
The change from 12 to 13 is not significant, this would not be considered to be any change at all because it is very minor.
Your GFR however is low and indicates significant kidney disease.
To prevent any further deterioration , you and your doctor would need to make sure that any factor that can affect the kidney is controlled.
This means blood pressure, blood sugar, checking and controlling any underlying kidney disease, eliminating any medications that can affect the kidney
Supplements may be needed.

I know the change isnt much in eosinophil count, but because it has been high for 2 years I wondered if it was a concern. My gfr last year was 50 so that has also gotten slightly worse. I left a message for my primary MD and she wasnt concerned. Should I get a second opinion from nephrologist?
