Brief Answer:
Yes, his medicines for hypertension can affect his blood sugar.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for using HealthcareMagic for your health queries.
I have gone through your question and understand the concern for your husband.

Lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide can decrease the effectiveness of insulin or other diabetes medicines (eg, Glyburide).

Ashwagandha has many benefits including improvement in thyroid and adrenal gland function.

On the other side, this natural herb helps to control the symptoms of diabetes.
Hyperglycemia could be reduced and insulin sensitivity improved when taking Ashwagandha.

So, my answer is : Yes his medicines of high blood pressure, may affect his blood sugar levels.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have other questions, feel free to ask. I'll be happy to help

Take care

Brief Answer:
It is necessary to meet a local doctor for the prescription.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear

There are a lot of alternatives for the tretement for your husband's high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Anyway it is necessary to meet physically your husband's doctor for the presciption because this thinks can not be done on line.

My advices for your husband:
Try to adopt healthy lifestyle habits to help manage your high blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

-Stop smoking.
-Lose excess weight.
-Exercise most days of the week.
-Eat heart-healthy foods, including foods rich in soluble fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
-Limit your consumption of foods high in saturated fats. For example, substitute olive oil for butter.
-Eliminate trans fats from your diet.
-Drink alcohol in moderation.
-Take steps to reduce stress.

Hope this is helpful.
Best regards.

Brief Answer:
glad to be of help.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Glad to know that my information helped.

Anyway, I want to say that the treatment for high blood pressure and high cholesterol depends on your husband's actual blood pressure readings and cholesterol level.

As an Endocrinologist I can say that if your husband were my patient I'd prescribe him:
1.Enalapril 20 mg 2 x 1/2 tab/day for his high blood pressure. This drug has even a Renal protective effect for the diabetic nephropathy.

2. Low-fat diet for his cholesterol problems.

And if you need a natural treatment for this problem, I will recommend Coriander Seeds. Research has shown that coriander helps lower the levels of total cholesterol, LDL (the ‘bad’ cholesterol), and triglycerides. Coriander seeds also have hypoglycemic effects and can be useful in diabetes management.

3. My specialty is to help diabetics for the management of diabetes.

If you need any help for your husband's high sugar, feel free to ask me in future, I will be happy to help.

Wish you good health.
Dr.Elona
