What Causes High Blood Pressure Data For A Week Time?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: My blood pressure has always been 120/80 or below, but on Monday I went to my primary care doctor and it was elevated. So she asked me to take it all week, and it has been elevated all week (as in 179/98 to 150/120). Meanwhile, I have been having pain in my legs, and have repeatedly asked if I could have a blood clot, but no one has scanned me for one, even though I told them that I ride a bus for 4 hours a day (I have RA, and I think they just ignore any pain because of that). What should I do?

Brief Answer:
There is a need for some examinations

Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,

If you had high blood pressure data during a week, there is a need for some examination. Elevated blood pressure can primary arterial hypertension, wich has many risk factors such as heredity, obesity, stress, sedentary lifestyle, smoking etc.
But it can be caused also by other organ disorders.
So in your case there is need for some examinations to rule out other organ disorders, such as kidney, thyroid, electrolyte disbalance etc.
Treatment strategies will depend on the results.
About leg pain, in case of cloth there would be swelling, change in colour and temperature. But venous or arterial problems are not excluded. So there is a need of duplex ultrasound to rule out varicose vein disease and atherosclerosis of lower extremities' arteries. If you smoke, then the last one is more possible.

Hope I could help you
