What Causes Heavy Pressure In Chest After An Accident?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Sep 2015
Question: I was in my car and had just taken a bite of a banana when a car pulled out of no where almost hit me. I slammed on the brakes and luckily the car missed me Then it felt like the banana got stick in my lower esophagus and would not go down. There was a great deal of pressure in my chest. it felt like it was stuck. I couldn't really swallow and I pulled over and tried to relax. It was a very strong sensation that the food was stuck even though it was just a banana. It felt almost like a spasm of some kind. I sat for a few minutes and it went away. What could it have been? I feel fine now.

Brief Answer:
Due to bite of banana not getting down properly during accident...

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I am sorry for the unpleasant accident you had.

1. When you slammed on your brakes, a pressure was put on the upper abdomen and your chest area. All the organs there were pressed.

2. The pressure on esophagus has caused spasms that did not let the bite of banana get into the stomach normally. This explains the great deal of pressure in your chest like it was stuck.

3. If I was your caring doctor would advise as following:
- I am happy that you are fine now, but, I still need to advise to observe for any unusual symptom: pain, difficulty in swallowing or breathing, bleeding, etc in the following days..
- If you'll notice such symptoms, then, should go for further examinations (e.g. X-ray of chest, etc.) any further damage from the accident you had
- if nothing will be noticed, then, enjoy your life!
