Thanks for getting back, I am sorry for the short delay in my reply. I was on call at my hospital.

Motrin is a good painkiller however it is nephrotoxic which means that if taken for a prolonged period of time ( more than 5 days) at a stretch it causes damage to the kidneys. Take it twice daily for not more than 4 days. A safer pain killer would be paracetamol three times daily.
I also recommend local analgesics like diclofenac gel, to be applied three times daily

Muscular pain does not cause palpitations.

Extreme dehydration can cause palpitation but not necessarily damage it. Drinking water and maintaining adequate hydration will revere the dehydration and also stop you from get the palpitations.
