Question: I am experiencing heart burn right now and it won't go away.. I smoked marijuana last night and probably ate too much food... I'm 14!! Is this normal for my age and does it have anything do with the fact that I smoke weed?

Brief Answer: looks.like indigestion; ECG rule out heart cause Detailed Answer: hello Apart from the symptom of heart burn you have vnot mentioned anything like - perspiration, palpitation or ghabrahat and pressure on chest or pain in left arm..so, it may not be due to cardiac cause. I think the symptom is related to indigeation- this usually improves with antacid- gelusil or lupila tablet/ pantoperazole or rabiperazole capsule. Try to relax and lie down. With medicine, indiestion should improve with 10-20 minutes. If at all there an increased problem or you are excessively worried then : getting an ECG will rule out any cardiac cause. Heart burn can also be due to gall stones ( can be seen at your age also) - this will be diagnosed with ultrasound abdomen. However, i think it is probably due to indiestion, take an antacid now and if you feel you may see a doctor. ##This does not looks like due to marijuana intake. Hope the reply helps you Please feel free to ask more questions for clarification. Wish you speedy recovery! Dr. Manisha Gopal MD Psychiatry
