Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern I would like to have some more information about this episode:

-Is this the first time that you experience these systems during vomiting?
- Did any other part of your body turn red or just your hands?
- How long did the vomiting last?
- What is your past medical history? Do you suffer from any chronic disease?
-How many episodes of vomiting have you had recently?

If this situation was related to a prolonged vomiting, it would be just physiological.

Anyway I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination, a chest X Ray, a resting ECG and cardiac ultrasound and some blood lab tests ( complete blood count, kidney and liver function tests, blood electrolytes, blood gas analysis, fasting glucose, PCR, sedimentation rate, etc.).

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask any other questions whenever you need!

Greetings!

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to say, but I have many chronic conditions. I had cervical cancer (1985) and because of that, my intestines were radiation burned (my doctorws all agree on that). I not only had lineal radiation, but I also had internal radiation with a steel egg-shaped think wrapped in gauze. I had to lay in the hospital and could only lift my head ten degrees.

So, I have a cholostomy bag done in 2006 at Siteman Cancer Center in St. XXXXXXX MO. Then in 2014 my bladder shut down and the urologists, in order to keep me alive, I now wear a catheter with a bag on my leg.

So I have many problems.

I have had a lot of tests regarding my heart and each time, everything comes out AOK. If that gives you any clue about my red hnds, I will thank you to respond to this.

My doctor keeps me coming to see him once a month, because, he said, I have so many serious issues.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Your past medical history seems to be really complicated.

Anyway, your symptoms don't seem to be cardiac related. It is not characteristic for any cardiac disorders to be associated to red hands.

An electrolyte imbalance could also mimic this clinical scenario. Your gastro intestinal disorders can cause several electrolytes imbalances and coupled with vomiting, could lead to this situation.

From the other hand a Reynaud's syndrome can not be excluded.
During an attack of Raynaud's, affected areas of your skin usually first turn white. Then, the affected areas often turn blue and feel cold and numb. As you warm and circulation improves, the affected areas may turn red, throb, tingle or swell. The order of the color changes isn't the same for everyone, and not everyone experiences all three colors.

This is a chronic disorder, which is triggered by cold weather and emotional stress.

Have you experienced this situation before, may be in cold weather?

I recommend you to consult with your GP for a careful physical examination, a resting ECG and some blood lab tests :

-complete blood count
-PCR, sedimentation rate (inflammation)
-thyroid hormone levels
- blood electrolytes
- kidney and liver function tests
- LDH
- the tumoral antigenes (Ca 12.5, Ca 15.3, Ca 19.9, CEA), to exclude possible reactivation of cancer. You should know that Raynaud syndrome can be associated to different disorder, including cancer, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes!

Dr. Iliri
