Brief Answer:
Perimenopause from 6 months to 2 years.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns about menopausal transition you are going through.

Following is my reply:

1. The period for menopausal transition varies from 6 months to 2 years.

2. The frequency of cycle and duration of cycles decrease from now on and blood flow might also decrease.

3. Since you attained menarche at 12 years of age, it is possible that you will achieve menopause also earlier.

4. You might develop hot sweats, palpitation and other menopause related symptoms as you cycles become infrequent.

5. I think your menopause transition will be over between next 6 months to 2 years to become total menopausal phase.

Let me know if you have any more doubts.

Regards,

Dr.Soumya

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Thank you for your response. You are saying that Menopause should be over by my 48th birthday, which means that I won't have anymore Menstrual Cycles? Here are the dates of my cycles since my 46th birthday:
XXXXXXX and July (45 days)
August 25, 2014 (27 days)
October 2, 2014 (39 days)
November 10, 2014 (40 days)
December 5, 2014 (26 days)

Sincerely,

Brief Answer:
Yes. Menses should stop by/before 48th birthday.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for sharing additional information.

Looking at your cycle pattern and menarche age, the menses should stop before 49th birthday as already about 6 months are over from your 46th birthday.

You can clearly notice delay in periods for almost 3 cycles among last 6 cycles meaning the perimenopausal transition has definitely set in and should complete before 49th birthday.

With this pattern, probably won't have any more menstrual cycles after 49th birthday.
