What Causes Flat, Red Patch Near Lumpectomy Scar Line?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Oct 2014
Question: I have a flat, red, round, 2-3mm red patch next to my lumpectomy scar line. It is not raised, itchy or painful. It appeared over night. I am concerned about local recurrence. I am 3 years out of stage 1a Breast Cancer. I had need margins in my mastectomy (that followed lumpectomy due to a lot of DCIS)...but invasive part was multifocal. Would skin mets appear as a small red/pink flat circle? It almost looks like a flat pimple with no head.

Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Yes mam it can be a skin recurrence and its appearance as stated by you is quite coherent with recurrence so you need to visit your surgeon as soon as possible.
