What Causes Feeling Tenderness And Tightness On Left Eyeball?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Jan 2015
Question: Dear Dr.

Thanks for being patient with me. I know I've been asking many questions but I want to rule out all other causes / diseases to make sure what I'm struggling with is just dry eye.

1. I mentioned previously that my left eyeball started feeling tender and tight. Whenever my eyes have the burning, gritty sensation my eyeball feels tender and tight as well. I don't have glaucoma or any retina problem. The slit lamp exam ruled out episcleritis, and my eyes are not that red.

Is it normal for my eyeball to feel tender, tight with some headache when I have dry eye? Do my eyes have to be red to be considered SEVERE? My eyes aren't red.

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are seen in dry eyes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history and the previous questions you have asked.
I can understand your concern and no need to be worried.
You can ask as many questions as you no problem no need to be worried.

Since other inflammatory conditions like episcleritis.....are ruled out no need to be worried as this confirm the diagnosis of dry eyes.

It is not necessary for eyes to be red to say that it is severe and the symptoms of tenderness, tightness, headache are seen in dry eye.

Hence I advice you not to worry as these symptoms are because of dry eye and treatment is in right direction.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
