What Causes Extreme Pain In The Feet While Having Diabetes?
Question: Pleas0e help me . I neurapathy , my feet are in extreme pain. I have used leurica and many other pain releavers until I am losing all hope of ever being comfortable again Diabetic shoes made them worse I had huge blisters on the top of my toes .this started before I had diabetis which is now under control with Lantus twice a day.

1)Foot care, including regular follow-up and self education is mandatory.
2)Tight, stable glycemic control (most important for slowing progression of neuropathy) is important and no missing of the dose and keeping glucose levels in normal range will prevent progression.
3)Pain management is needed and apart from lyrica many other neuropathic pain killers can be chosen from (eg, with pregabalin, gabapentin, sodium valproate, dextromethorphan, morphine sulfate, tramadol, oxycodone, duloxetine, topical capsaicin, transdermal lidocaine)
4)Treatment of diabetic gastroparesis with prokinetics like erythromycin, cisapride , metoclopramide, polyethylene glycol 3350, tegaserod
5)You can request your doctor for Experimental therapies like aldose reductase inhibitors, alpha-lipoic acid, actovegin, and spinal cord stimulators.
