Brief Answer:
This could be due to depression

Detailed Answer:
Hi thanks for the query from HCM

I can understand your concern. Mood liability and crying over small things could occur due to depression. In mild or moderate depression crying spells can be presenting symptoms and should be evaluated.

If you have symptoms like pervasive sadness of mood, lack of motivation, reduced interest in anything, lack of energy, poor desire, symptoms like hopelessness, helplessness or worthlessness etc then that could be depression. Suicidal ideation could also be there.

Any chronic stressor could cause mood liability and might result in crying spells. If you have any of the symptoms I've mentioned then please provide details in follow up question so that we can proceed further.

Depression can be treated easily with medicines or psychological therapies. SSRIs or SNRIs are mainstay of therapy for depression.

Thanks Take care
