What Causes Elevated Heart Rate During Cardio Workout?

Question: my girlfriend and I are working out at the gym
the last time we went to the gym we did cardio training on the XXXXXXX trainer

she was barely doing 2-3miles an hour and her heart rate was up past 175

she is 25 and 260# at the moment trying to get back into shape
do we need to worry about that or is it in the normal parameters

Tachycardia is the normal reaction to exercise in untrained people. As long as she was asymptomatic you shouldn't worry about.

However, I would recommend to gradually increase your work load especially cardiac training. This will avoid future tachycardia episodes.

It's recommended that you should start with normal training for 4-8 weeks and only after that you may start with minimal cardiac training and increase gradually every two weeks.

This is the best way to keep your body in shape.
