What Causes Elevated ESR Levels?

Question: I went to a dentist yesterday as i was having some mouth ulcers he had ordered some blood tests like LFT, Renal profile , Sugar etc . My ESR results are elevated . The ref range was up to 10 and mine was 13 . What does that mean ? Anything i need to worry about ?

ESR of 13 though above the normal range of less than 10, is not significantly raised.
