Brief Answer:
Hypertension

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have a history of hypertension and today your blood pressures are elevated at 194/99 and 172/93. These are definitely elevated and they should be addressed. I first need to know what doses of Valsartan and Metoprolol you are taking and what your pulse rate is? Please provide me with this information so I can better advise you on your next step

Brief Answer:
increase the valsartan/HCTZ to 2 tablets

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for returning to HCM with the above information.

From you medication i see that you can take an additional tablet of the valsartan/HCT which may reduce your BP to a more acceptable level. The metoprolol will probably not help reduce your BP at this time.

My recommendation is this.
Recheck your blood pressure again this afternoon
If the BP is > 160/90 then take an additional Valsartan/HCT
If it is < 160/90 then don't do anything. YOu may have had a high pressure from other causes and don't need an increase in medication
Recheck again tomorrow and follow the same instructions

If still elevated on monday then call your doctor and have him adjust your medication so it can be better controlled

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any further questions
