What Causes Eczema Like Patch On Left Hand?
Question: HI doc
I have a small patch on my left hand have attached a picture for you to have a look at.
No symptoms noticed it two weeks ago. I did pop it and a fluid was in it. Did become scabby but now looks like the picture attached.
What can this be and how shall I get rid of it?
Never seen anything like this before. I seen a doc said try e45 for dry skin.
It is not herpes or anything like that is it?

I have reviewed the attached photograph and it is not herpes for sure.
According to me it can be either a patch of eczema or some insect bite hypersensitivity reaction. In either of the condition I suggest my patients to apply corticosteroid cream like clobetasol propionate on the affected area twice daily. This is a prescription medicine and you need to consult a doctor in person to get it.
Though you can continue with e45 cream on the hands.

1 there was a fluid filled In the area when I popped it? Would you know what that is?
Can I get a OTC steroid cream such as hydrocortisone cream 15G is that any good?
And I have uploaded another photograph. What would the difference be if it was herpes? Just for knowledge.

Sometimes fluid filled blister can be a manifestation of insect bite hypersensitivity reaction or seen in eczema. So thats why I have suggested these two diagnosis.
Yes you can use hydrocortisone cream on the patch. Only thing is that it is a mild steroid and will take a longer time to resolve the lesion. It will take around 2 -3 weeks to disappear.
In case of herpes infection there is history of pain and burning followed by eruption of mutiple small fluid filled vesicles which rupture leading to formation of erosions which heal in 2-3 weeks.
