What Causes Dry Oily Skin Along With Cough And Congestion?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jul 2015
Question: I have dry red skin around my nose for about a week now, I have never had this before and at first I thought it was acne but it isn't going away and it is the only dry skin on my face because my skin is usually more oily than dry. I just went to the doctor for congestion and a cough but the skin around my nose popped up several days before I showed symptoms for being sick and the doctor said that it was mainly allergies so all they prescribed was some nose spray and cough syrup for night time. I didn't ask about the skin on my face at the doctor's because I forgot about it, is this related to my allergies? Is there any over the counter medicine I could use to treat this? Should I stop wearing makeup for a while until it heals?
I forgot to mention that I have been trying a lot of new vitamins lately. My boyfriend is a promoter for Mynt and Jeunesse and I recently started taking AM and PM Essentials and FINITI. I have stopped taking these since the rash or dry skin appeared so I am not sure if it is an allergic reaction to either of those but it hasn't improved since I have stopped taking them. However I do recall first noticing the dry skin around my nose the next day, it may or may not be correlated.

Brief Answer:
Please provide more information

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
I really appreciate your concern
Looking at your detailed description and photograph it seems to be a localised allergic reaction or an inflammatory lesion

I would like further information to guide you better
Do you feel pain and increased temperature of the affected area or generalised fever
Are you having running nose
any problem with respiration like shortness of breath, chest pain or palpitations

Please have faith in your doctor and continue with nasal spray and other prescribed medicines.
You should apply calamine lotion on the affected dry skin

Please revert back to me with all those informations so that I will be able be to tell you more accurately.
Best wishes

It seems like it is a little warmer in the areas where it is red compared to the rest of my face but I dont feel any pain. I have had a headache from what i think is sinus pressure from my allergies and my left ear has felt like it is under water for the past few days and is a little sore. Is that related? I went to cvs and got mg217 which is a cream that says it treats a lot of the symptoms i have and it seems to have gone down in size and it has really helped with the dryness but its been less than 24 hours that I have been using it and there are still dry scales peeling off those areas. Would an allergic reaction in this area last this long?

Brief Answer:
allergic reaction may take time to heal completely

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your reply

You need not to worry
You are applying right medicine, it takes time to heal
continue applying MG 217, it may take next 5 to 7 days to disappear completely
Since it has started reducing so have faith in your doctor and continue with this ointment
wash your face with antiseptic face wash or keep it moist

Hope this answers your question
Best wishes
