What Causes Dry Mouth And Breathing Difficulty After Taking Amoxicillin?

default
Posted on Thu, 29 May 2014
Question: I have recently had a treach removed and have been taking amoxicillin for a stich infection which turns out is not infected. I have been unable to sleep and the Dr says to lower my pillows and try bendryl. I took my dose of amoxicillin and sometime during the night everything dried up and I had difficulty breathing. I immediately started taking in a lot of water to counter the dryness and am breathing ok now, but would like to know what happened

Detailed Answer:

Welcome to Healthcare magic.

This is Dr. Priyanka tiwari answering your query.

I have gone through your query, dont worry Itscjean this dryness In mouth and breathing problem can be due to to effect of drug( amoxicillin) you are taking , so for this you should consult your doctor and discuss with him in your next visit.

As your Doctor has prescribed you to lower your pillow during sleep it will help you so follow those instructions and to minimize condition of dry mouth you can drink water frequently to keep your mouth moist and loosen mucus and keep water bedside during night .

- Eat moist and soft food , avoid dry and salty food , avoid drink containing alcohol and caffiene like coffee and tea.

Hope I have answered your query,
