Dr. XXXXXXX Dermatologist
Thank you XXXXXXX for the photo provided.
From the photo that you have sent and the history that you have provided it does not look like herpes or any other STD.
It looks like a frictional scab which can be managed with over the counter medications.
You should apply Canestan and Cortaid cream twice a day on the area for 10 days .
It would help in reducing the discomfort that you have by reducing the inflammation.
Herpes is associated with multiple scabs and water filled blisters and from the photo that you have sent it does not look like multiple areas .
It is a single scab.
Please do get back to me in case of any further queries.

I didn't feel anything until sex was complete ... Slight irritation during actually , only significant difference was slight vaginal dryness because the AC was on and the room was a little chilly ... We normally cut the air off , additionally I received oral early last week and vaguely remember being nicked by her teeth but not enough pain to stop ... That was roughly 8 eight days ago but today was first sexual encounter since then and noticed the scare / scab when I used the bathroom after sex . My current feeling from it is, it feels dry ... For example , like dry skin that requires lotion or chapped lips

Dr. XXXXXXX Dermatologist
Thank you for your reply.
The teeth XXXXXXX may have caused by a minor frictional scab or the scab may have come up from a fresh frictional event during the latest encounter.
Yes , it is definitely dry from the picture and will be totally treated with the otc creams that I have mentioned.
Please do get back to me in case of any further queries.

Sir I received a urine test which was negative and a blood test and the doctor said my blood levels looked normal but still treated me herpes ... I am definitely confused please provide insight !!!!!

Dr. XXXXXXX Dermatologist
Dear ***** ,
What medications for herpes has the doctor put you on?
how are the lesions presently?
Customer reply
Presently they are fine and have dissolved immensely ... I have done so much research it is exhausting. I am curious because all my findings say that the blisters are supposed to eventually burst forming open sores and having some drainage and pain . I have done full examinations of lesions daily and the only changes I have seen are the scabs getting smaller, no bursting no irregular discharge from the scabs and no open sores
Customer reply
The reason I discussed my blood test is because in research I found out that white blood cells are heightened in the state of infection when the doctor said that my blood cells count in examination was normal that was an indicator to me that my body wasnt fighting off any infections because of the normal state .... Again my urine test came back negative and the only reason why I use it as influential evidence is because although the urine test cannot detect herpes he can detect infections ..... please advise I am awaiting blood work results which specifically test for herpes antibodies

Dr. XXXXXXX Dermatologist
Thank you XXXXXXX for all the information provided.

From the history that you have provided and the photo you had given earlier, there was no sign of herpes.

However the Doctor may have decided to treat you with anti virals as a precaution . His clinical judgement may have made him take the decision.

The blood test that are awaited will help make things more clear.

The levels that need to be done are IgG and IgM antibodies against HSV 1 and HSV 2 which would help reveal a lot of information.

Many Doctors in practice do start this therapy more as a precaution when they are unsure of diagnosis. There is no harm in taking a week course of that .

Please do get back to me in case of any further queries.
Customer reply
But can you clarify blood level count in particular white blood cells showing regular levels ... My research indicated that white blood cells rise when the body is fighting infection the doctor already indicated that my blood level reading was normal so I went to a civilian / private doctor to take a specific hsv test .... Also would I know if a blister burst ? Again in the photo I sent that is the condition I noticed the scab in , no prior warnings irritation or symptoms ....

Dr. XXXXXXX Dermatologist
Thank you for your message.

Yes , blood counts rise when the body is fighting an infection. This is true. They can also marginally rise when the body is going through some stress. The fact that your blood counts were normal there is nothing to worry. If they were high then there is a sign of inflammation in the body.

Yes, if the blisters bursts it forms an erosion which is painful and in cluster.

You did not have any cluster of erosions or blisters nor did you have any pain .

Please do

I intend for this to be my last question. I don't want to become a hinder. What is the estimated total outbreak and recovery time for herpesoutbreak ... As described in earlier posts I noticed this on the 5th of July and by the 10th all that remain are painless scabs ... There was a two day itching period but that was it ... Based on my research I thought the outbreak and recovery period was much longer in duration

Dr. XXXXXXX Dermatologist
Thank you for your message.

Recovery time is 1 to 3 weeks.
Incubation period is 3 to 5 days.

Your took 5 days recovery

Please do get back to me in case of any further queries.

I have follow on information are u available for update
Customer reply
Here is my update I took the herpes blood test and it came back negative however I am still concerned as any person would be I still have small scarring from the scabs that were there I have a picture is there somewhere I can send it for your viewing also my girlfriend is pregnant she tested for the pregnancy std test and her results came back negative as well i've done a ton of research and my symptoms only lasted about a week again they began with the small store that I already sent you a picture of they progressed too small scabs on the right side of my shaft. As I told you before I went to the emergency room and he prescribed me herpes antibiotics. As a review my urine test came back negative and regular blood test for white blood cell count came back normal that was not good enough for me so I went to a civilian provider and got the IgG blood test done specifically for herpes and again that came back negative my symptoms have completely went away meaning no teanderness in nodes or itching in genital region. The pain lasted from a Monday to Thursday so roughly about four days... As stated before I have an updated photo and I simply just don't know what to do I was thinking about getting tested again as I have read about other STDs such as syphilis and I am again scared maybe you can look at my recovery and tell me what you recommend... I have not had sex since we have discussed on this thread in July and simply want to be involved with my girlfriend again but I am terrified if there are presuming STDs that exist unknowingly

Brief Answer:
The discussion has been in the right direction

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in with an update.

I have read through the transcript in detail.
The opinion expressed by the doctor is completely agreeable to me.

The scab which had occurred on your penis is most likely a frictional one and not associated with any sexually transmitted infection. The initial treatment for Herpes is a standard protocol in many clinics. Also you have taken specific herpes tests which show absence of infection.

Since your girlfriend is pregnant and her screening pregnancy STD test reports are normal, there is least likelihood of any sexually transmitted infection in her as well as in you.

As for the blood tests and WBC counts, you should not worry as the reports are normal.

Most importantly your symptoms have disappeared in 4 days time and in the light of a XXXXXXX during an earlier sexual intercourse, it points to a frictional scab.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Were u able to able to review the pictures that I had in the dialog ... The first os the inital scab and yhe second refers to the scabs that came after that within 24 hours and healed in four days now I have scars on my Penile shaft from healed scabs ... There are presently no symptoms but I'm simply trying to figure out where it she scabs will come from if I tested negative for herpes which I was diagnosed initially. I presently have no symptoms no Itching or aching I'm just simply curious as to what these scars could possibly be i've looked online about scabies and one of the things they mention is having cigars in a line formation. Having cigars in a long information presume that maybe I have been bitten by an insect but again I'm not sure lastly I would like to understand with everything that you have read i also had swollen lymph nodes diring the 4 day occurance please advise

Brief Answer:
Mild skin infection, allergy or insect bites

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in with an update.

I have seen the images enclosed and the ones posted on photobucket.
It is surely not herpes, syphilis or scabies. Scabies causes a lot of itching which is more significant than the scabs. It is possible that you might have a mild grade skin condition which can be a non sexually transmitted skin infection, an allergy or small insect bites (the initial one on the head of penis still being a friction scab). This can cause slightly swollen lymph nodes in the groins.

The earlier doctor had suggested use of Canestan (cream for treating yeast infections) and Cortaid (ointment containing steroid preparation which works in most skin conditions). These medications are known to work in most situations. So though the condition is treated, healing and skin changes might take a while to get back to normal.

I recommend that you use dry inner clothes and wash your genital twice daily with warm water and keep the area dry from sweat. Also please avoid scratching the area of scabs.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
