What Causes Discomfort In Anal Area When Sexually Aroused?

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Apr 2015
Question: After sex and sometimes when I get an erection, I feel a slight discomfort -- not pain so much as presence or pressure -- in the anal/prostate area. This doesn't always happen, but has occurred twice in recent weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

This discomfort in the anal area during sexual arousal might be related to the presence of hemorrhoids.During sexual arousal ,there is an increased blood flow to the pelvic organs and this will make the enlarged veins in rectum (hemorrhoids ) more enlarged .This may cause the feeling of pressure and discomfort in thie area.

Another possible cause might be related to the prostate gland (infection or enlargement).
The fact that your symptoms are mild, you don't have other symptoms, suggest that this is not of concern.
You may need to eat a diet rich in fibres and drink plenty of water to avoid constipation that would make the hemorrhoids worse.
Exercise regularly.

If the symptoms get worse of you start to have frequent urination, difficulty during urination, painful ejaculation or itching in the anal area ,blood in toilet paper , you may need to consult your physician and get examined.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any other question.I will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the answer. I'm at the age where I do have some changes in urination patterns -- weaker stream, somewhat frequent urination although not excessively so, etc. My doctor put me on terrozin (spelling?) and I take Cialis. Should have pointed that out in my first question.

Hello again.

I apologize for the delay in answering you.

The information you have added is very important to understand better the possible cause of your symptoms.
Since you are taking Terazosin ,means you have developed a benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). The increased blood flow in pelvic organs during sexual arousal ,increases the blood flow to prostate gland that will enlarge further. This can cause the feeling of discomfort or pressure in pelvic/rectal area.
Cialis (Tadalafil ) that it is used to treat problems with erections ,also acts by increasing the blood flow to in the pelvic area ,specially in genital organs (including prostate gland).

So the cause of this discomfort in the rectal area during intercourse most likely is the enlarged prostate condition and Cialis .Both of them contribute to the increased volume of prostate gland during sexual arousal causing the feeling of pressure in rectal area.
If this discomfort get worse and it becomes a problem for you ,you should consult your treating doctor for the treatment of enlarged prostate.

Take care.
