Acid suppressing medications like PPI can cause C.diff infection. Dexilant is a PPI (acid suppressing medication). Normally the acidic environment in the stomach protects against disease causing organism. But when you take acid suppressing medication like dexilant, this acid barrier is lost and it can lead infection of the gut including C.diff. Blood diarrhea is the most severe form of C.diff infection.

So your C.diff infection could be due to dexilant therapy.
You can take metronidazole for relief.
