What Causes Diarrhea, Bloating And Tailbone Pain After Taking Antibiotics For Gonorrhea Infection?
On 11/27 I was told that an STD full panel result was clean but I had "abnormal" results for gonnerhea. Not positive because i asked specifically and her reply was still abnormal and the best thing to do was to have me treated with antibiotics for it. Could i have a reaction to this?
Since i have had stomach pain,, bloating, excessive gas, sore ribs , tailbone pain making it hard to sit and inconsistent bowels. I saw blood in the stool (a piece of tissue had a little) one time in the 30+ days I've been checking. No pain urinating. No fevers. No nausea. No vomit.
Went to a PCP X-Rays on ribs and chest negative. MRI's and Ultrasounds showed nothing in my stomach as they did a scan from the lower chest to Pelvis. CBC blood test - nothing. Urinalysis - nothing. Physical examination - normal. Went to another doctor for a physical and full blood test and normal. I was told to watch what i eat and how it impacted me. Eating healthier has curbed the pain somewhat but it is not gone. I'm worried on what it could be.
Please advise if i should keep monitoring, go to a 4th doctor. If so, should it be a urologist? Could the pain in my tailbone be more sinister? or is that a gastroenterologist i should be seeking? I'm 28 and these problems are abnormal and i'm trying to determine what it could be.
C.Difficile/ candida overgrowth...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1. You are reporting to have used antibiotic drugs for suspected gonorrhea and after that you have diarrhea, bloating , stomach pain, gas ,tailbone pain making and inconsistent bowels.
Your symptoms may be related with :
- C.Difficile infection due to antibiotic use and bacterial misbalance
- Candida overgrowth
2. If I were your treating doctor I would suggest doing:
- fecal culture test
- fecal test for candida overgrowth ( after that start antifingal treatment)
Meantime I suggest to :
- use probiotics
- use plenty of water
- avoid fatty and sugar foods
- start to use metronidazole
- use PPi's treatment(Prilosec OTC) to low acidity and get relife from stomach
pain.
So at the end I can say that the doctor who you need is a gastroenterologist.
Hope it was helpful to you!
