What Causes Diarrhea After Taking Zantac?

Question: Dr., been taking Zantac for about 2 Weeks, give or take a day or so, developed very loose bowels 4 days ago. Not full blown diarrhea but concerning. Any suggestions? I have suspended taking the Zantac 2 days ago but still experience symptoms although not as bad as at first. 69 yr. old female.

Most likely the problem you are suffering is Gastroenteritis.It's the inflammation of intestinal mucosa.Most of the times it is viral but can be bacterial or protozoal also.Hower i would initially suggest you to go for stool test to rule out the cause of infection.
As of now start taking a good quality probiotic like VSL#3 twice daily for a week.
Tab imodium 2mg can be taken as and when required.
Take light and easily digestible food.
Take lot of fibers and probiotics in diet.
