Question: Dear Docter,
I had my last menses on 31/8/2014. Had intercourse only once around 13/8/2014. My periods have delayed, took home urine pregnancy test 4 times, last one today. All came negative. Can I be pregnant? I am worried as I dont want a pregnancy. My age is 28.

I understand your concern.

May I know whether you had intercourse on 13/8 or 13/9/14? If it was on 13/9/2014, you were on your fertile period and you are likely to be pregnant. If it is 13/8/2014, since you have already got a period, you are unlikely to be pregnant..

Get a early morning urine sample for pregnancy test. If negative, for furthur confirmation, get a hcg blood test. Hcg>25 suggest positive pregnancy..

If positive, consult your doctor for a scan and medication for abortion at the earliest since you dont want this pregnancy..

If pregnancy negative, delay in periods can be due to stress or due to medications which you have taken like muscle relaxant.. You can wait for 1 more week for spontaneous onset of periods. If no periods, then you can take progesterone tablet for 5 days to get withdrawal bleeding.. Consult your doctor for the prescription..
