default
Posted on Fri, 1 Aug 2014
Question: Hello, Me n my fiancee had good time on 3rd May 2014 but it was unprotected after that she took i-pill and she got her periods before time but it was normal, then we had sex again on 8th XXXXXXX 2014 and again on 20th XXXXXXX 2014 but this time her period did not come properly, as in it comes but very less. We had checked through home pregnancy test on 23 XXXXXXX 2014, but it was negative then again we had checked on 28th XXXXXXX 2014 still it was negative. So I want to know is my fiancee pregnant or is it effect of i-pill that she is not getting her periods properly.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to pills.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
You had sex on 8th and 20th XXXXXXX If she took emergency pill after both the episodes then the delay in periods that she is having now can be due to the effect of the pills she has taken. On 28th XXXXXXX it was too early to detect a pregnancy by a urine test. You need to test her urine for pregnancy now and if it comes negative then pregnancy is ruled out.
She can wait for a week more for her periods to start spontaneously. In case the periods do not start then do consult her gynecologist for hormonal tablets to have a withdrawal bleeding.
I would also advise you to use a surer way of contraception like oral pills as emergency pills if taken repeatedly can cause menstrual irregularities.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you for your prompt reply, but i am bit confused as on 20th XXXXXXX when we had sex, we had unsafe sex but i took out my penis before it ejaculated and she told me my periods got started from 21st XXXXXXX but it was very little and we checked it on 28 XXXXXXX via pregnancy test strips, it showed us negative. I hope next period comes properly . So is it due to i-pill which she took her periods are not coming properly or is she pregnant??

Brief Answer:
Yes it is due to the pills.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The decreased bleeding during her regular periods is due to the pills she has taken. It is not due to pregnancy. After the periods since the pregnancy test was negative there is no need to worry. She is likely to have a normal period this month.
Hope my answer is helpful.
