Question: Hi I had my last period on 11th August. Normally my cycle is of 35 to 37 days .
But during august it happened 10 days earlier. But after that I didnt have my period.
Dr prescribed me to take regestrone 5mg for 5 days twice. My dosage completed last night. Please note I didnt have any sexual activities or intercourse in last 4 5 months. When my period can be started as already I am two months late mostly. I am bit worried. What can be the other reason apart from Pregnancy.

Brief Answer:
Within 5 to 7 days. Reasons are given below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) You can expect your period (i.e withdrawal bleeding) within 5 to 7 days after stopping hormonal pill (Regestrone).

2) Besides pregnancy, delayed period may be due to hormonal imbalance, Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease, thyroid disturbance (Hypothyroid), high prolactin level, stress, emotional upset, pelvic infection, irregular diet habit, over weight etc.

If you DON'T get your period within 1 week, you should undergo one ultrasound scan (pelvic) and complete hormonal profile to rule out underlying cause and confirm the diagnosis. You should consult with your local gynecologist regarding this for proper guidance and management of the case.

3) Take healthy LOW carbohydrate diet, control or reduce body weight effectively by regular physical exercise, avoid mental stress by regular meditation or yoga and maintain genital hygiene properly. It would be helpful to regularize your period.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
