What Causes Crossed Eyes After A Concussion?

default
Posted on Tue, 26 Sep 2017
Question: I suffered a concussion playing high school in the 60's. At that time they did not understand brain injuries like they do today. As a result of a blind side hit, I experienced a feeling of having crossed eyes for two weeks. I'm wondering if that symptom is a significant finding or just not that unusual or concerning. I wondered my whole life if that injury has had a long term effect on my personality. Have you heard of others who suffered the feeling of being crossed eyed after a concussion?

Brief Answer:
Your anxiety could have had a greater impact than the concussion itself

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It seems that the concussion temporarily affected the capacity to control the eye musccles and focus the eyes together. This is likely to have made you cross eyed for a couple of weeks. Such a thing can happen and I have heard of such a thing happening. However, with the subsidence of the concussion the problem should subside as it happened in your case.

I doubt if this would have a long term effect on your personality. However, your apprehension could indeed have affected your personality.

Let me know if I could help further.
