Brief Answer:
You should discontinue and use alternatives

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had been experiencing lately. Based on the history you have shared, there are two possibilities. One is yes, it can be a direct side effect of ultram or tramadol however it's a very rare one usually.

Second possibility is to have direct drug allergy which may also present with wheeze and cough due to respiratory airways inflammation and narrowing. In both cases it's better to avoid it, and you can use OTC analgesics like acetaminophen till you can see the prescribing physician again.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Regards
