Posted on Fri, 9 Jan 2015
Question: I get a constant headache over my left side starting form the back of the neck to over my left eye. Is this an occurence that's been diagnosed before? I've been to a neurologist, an eye doctor, heart specialist ,etc. no help. I've had several MRI's, ct scans. no help. It feel like pressure on my left side. When I bend down pressure rushes to my head and I get a tremendous head ache. lately I have been waking up with what I think is pressure. this has been going on for about 5 years!

Brief Answer:
Probably Occipital Neuralgia,

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You had numerous imaging studies of head and brain that didn't help diagnose your concern.
First diagnosis I think it's related to your symptoms is Occipital Neuralgia a condition where the occipital ( C2) nerves ( greater and lesser) are compressed or damaged along the way.
These nerves supply back of the neck and top of the head and damage from trauma, neurovascular conflict, upper neck lesions or masses etc. results in similar symptoms to yours.
Treatment of this condition has several components. Conservative treatment consists on NSAID drugs, acupuncture, physical therapy, antidepressive drugs, opioid analgesics, anticonvulsant drugs, nerve block, nerve stimulation etc.

Surgical treatment consists on neurolysis ( cutting of nerve) or decompression of nerve.
Another diagnosis to consider in your case is Tension Headache.
So I suggest you to consult your Neurologist and discuss above mentioned possibilities.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
