Question: I have suffered from a uti twice in two years and since December 2014 have a constant burning pain in the perineum scrotum area which is worse after urinating .I have had several types of antibiotics cephalexin, amoxcillin, biasig, bactrim and another .I am also taking duodart for the prostrate .I have had ultrasounds(2),urine tests and cultures and also a cystoscopy which was clear however it did show inflammation of the urinary tract. It appears I have chronic bacterial prostatitis or non bacterial prostatitis. However whether this is caused by some unknown bacteria or chronic inflammation caused by too much acid in my urine I do not know. There are some natural supplements that may help.Do you have any suggestions.

Brief Answer:
A four glass test of Meares-Stamey could help you with your diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Good day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!

I believe you may havea condition called chronic abacterial prostatitis. This is the diagnosis given if your urine culture comes out negative or no organisms has been isolated. A four glass test of Meares-Stamey could help you with your diagnosis. This is done by a urologist to determine and differentiate between causes of prostatitis. This is done by culturing 4 different urine samples before and after digital rectal exam to determine if the bacteria is in the bladder, prostate or urethra.

The evidences for natural treatment of prostatitis would be anecdotal at best but you could try to sit in a tub of warm water with the water just covering your buttocks, or try a sitz bath. This would have immediate soothing effect on the prostate. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and spicy foods such as hot peppers, chili, pickles, and salsa, as they can make your symptoms worse.

Natural supplements that are marketed for prostate would be antioxidants like Vit c, vit E, selenium and zinc. This could help with the inflammatory reaction in the prostate.

I suggest to continue the DUODART as this has been proven to relieve prostate obstruction symptoms, decrease prostate size and reduce cancer risk.

Yours truly,
