What Causes Chest Pain With Light-headedness?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Sep 2015
Question: I just checked my blood pressure as per my doctors orders and It is 161/99 this mourning it was 143/88. I am 6 foot tall and weigh 189 pounds. My doctor now has me taking 10 MG of Lisinopril per day. I am experiencing chest pain, light, in my chest, center (sternum) and feel light-headed. Is this enough reason for an ER visit? I have also gained 20 pounds over the past six months without a change in diet but with an increase in activity.

Brief Answer:
Yes, you need to go to ER to rule out miocardial infarctian.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM,

I understand your concern.
Yes, it is a reason to go to the ER. You need to rule out a heart attack (miocardial infarction) , so you need to do an ECG. With your history of high blood pressure, maybe dislipidemia, and age, it shows me that you are high risk.
Your blood pressure is not that high, but you need to keep it under controll. So in my opinion you will need to add another medicine except lisinopril, maybe a diuretic. But your local doctor will evaluate and decide whats best.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you have further questions.

Take care,
