Brief Answer:
It can be heart disease or GERD,Peptic ulcer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I am Dr.Rovena
I had gone through your query and understand your concerns

A chest pain coming from heart disease is a pain behind the breast bone aggravated by exertion and relieved by rest.Pain may radiate in the left arm.
This pain doesn't go away by drinking water or eating.

If I were your treating doctor for this case of chest pain that comes and goes I would first try to rule out serious condition such as heart disease (Angina Pectoris)

I would suggest to do an ECG,Stress test,Ultrasound of the heart to exclude heart disease.
Once I am sure this isn't life threatening I would think of gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) or Peptic ulcer causing this chest pain.
If this would be the cause the chest pain would relieved by eating and by antiacids. The diagnosis can be confirmed by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.

I suggest to consult a physician (cardiologist) and get the tests done.
I also suggest to do some blood test such as :-sugar level in blood
-lipid profile
-measure the blood pressure
because these are three major risk factor for heart disease (hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemi )

Hope I was able to help you.
If you have any further question I will be happy to help.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
Yes,stress test is a way to diagnose Angina pector

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
It is a very good thing that you don't have risk factors for heart disease.

The exercise stress test ( also called a stress test,) is used to provide information about how the heart responds to exertion. It usually involves walking on a treadmill or pedaling a stationary bike at increasing levels of difficulty, while your electrocardiogram, heart rate, and blood pressure are monitored.

This test is important for two reasons:
- It determine if there is adequate blood flow to your heart during increasing levels of activity

-It determine the likelihood of having coronary heart disease and the need for further evaluation.

Since you don't have risk factors for heart disease, your ECG,Stress test results are normal is less probably that it might have been Angina pectoris.
I would still advise to do Echo and CT angiogram so we can exclude definitely heart disease as cause of your chest pain.

Then you should do some more tests such as a Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to evaluate the esophagus for possible conditions that can be the cause of your symptoms.

If you have further questions please write me.
Take care
