Posted on Tue, 7 Apr 2015
Question: Hi, This is XXXXXXX from XXXXXXX .. I have Gerd for more than 4 years now. My symptoms are heavy. In the sense getting worsened day by day. My question to you is. I'm having chest pain now, I feel like pulse radiating throughout my left hand. Last week, I could feel my heart beat in my middle finger, also when I'm stressed, or hurrying to finish a job or thinking about anything too deep. I'm having all cadiac symptoms pain in left chest, back, burning sensation in chest, back, when I went to check these with cardiologist last year. He analyzed with all tests , ecg, ecocardiogram, tred mill test, and said no problem with heart. Heart condition is very good. But I'm worried about these symptoms every day and have a feeling that Gerd could hav led to heart problems. I'm now overweight too, nearly 15 kgs. Please suggest me better treatment and suggestions to come out of these symptoms as I'm getting worried whenever I face these symptoms. Also suggest me the best / highest cure for Gerd. Thank you so much!!..

Brief Answer:
radiation pain

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have read your query.
I think I would be able to help you.

The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of GERD. This can cause chest discomfort and even radiating pain because both the stomach sbi the heart share the same nerve supply.

The best treatment for GERD Is Pantoprazole 40 mg once daily before food. This can be combined with syrup sucralfate o 4 tsf 4 times a day. Combine this with a bland vegetarian diet and avoid alcohol tea and coffee. If there is stress avoid it. Doing an endoscopy to judge the exact level of damage is a good idea.

GERD doesn't cause a real cardiac damage, just the pain is there.

Since you still have heart symptoms and since you have gained weight, doing a stress test may be important.

I hope that the information helps you. I have tried to make it as simple as possible. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
