What Causes Burning Sensation In The Groin After Sexual Intercourse?

Posted on Mon, 12 Jun 2017
Question: Hi Doctor,

I had burning sensation after sexual intercourse with my wife for few seconds. We are married for 9 plus years and we never had multiple partners before. My head of the penis near the skin starts(I am uncircumcised) and I saw a small air bubble kind of things and it worried me what it is.

Is it a some STD or something or infection, I am worried. \

The second picture has it on the left side and the first one is the right side which is clean. What is that doctor?

Brief Answer:
You are having mild balanoposthitis. Cause has to be investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
The bubble like thing has no clinical importance and can be present with most of the individuals and are called as Pearly penile papule or Hirsutis papilaris glandis. It is a normal variation. Not infectious, nothing to worry and can be ignored.

Regarding the burning sensation after intercourse, it seems that you are having mild balano-posthitis. (redness of glans and inner aspect of foreskin). It may be due to various reasons like irritation and infection etc. If your sexual partner has yeast infection, then also you will likely to get such balanoposthitis. Consult you physician and get well. This air bible like thing also may be a part of balanoposthitis. Only on close inspection it can be diagnosed properly along with history whether it is PPP or due to balanitis.

My wife don't have yeast infection, as she don't have any symptoms of it. I cleaned my penis with water before intercourse and I am not sure if it added friction. Do I need to go see my family doctor for this? Is there anything i can use over the counter for?

Brief Answer:
Not to apply anything available over the counter on your own .

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Yeast infection can exist without any symptoms over genitals of a female. Only investigations can confirm the same.
Don't use anything available over the counter on your own. Wait for two days with frequent washing with plain water (not to apply soap). If your symptoms are not cleared within 2-3 days consult your physician for further help.
